At the Muddy Dash outside Atlanta, Peuge catches Corey Starks, a Charlotte native turned Atlanta resident and Omega Psi Phi brother who runs 5Ks and marathons but has never done anything like this before. Corey talks about what travel does for your mental health, what it means to move through the world with your brotherhood behind you, and why Tokyo, Australia and backpacking Thailand are next on his list.
Corey Starks grew up in Charlotte in closed off neighborhoods and says expanding his horizons through travel changed the way he sees everything. Now living in Atlanta for nine years, he showed up to the Muddy Dash because his brother sent him a link and said let's do something together. That is how Omegas move. He sits down with Peuge before the race to talk about what it feels like to explore the world with your brothers versus alone, why mental health and physical movement are connected, and how Omega Psi Phi Incorporated shows up for the whole community, not just its members. His bucket list: Tokyo first, then Australia, then a solo backpacking trip through Thailand. Party pace on the course today though.
