At the Podcast Summit in Atlanta, Peuge runs into Sharon Kelly, a registered nurse and 14-year radio veteran from Chattanooga who launched her podcast on mental health and self-care for caregivers after attending her first summit in Miami. Sharon breaks down why she made the move from radio to podcasting, what she is still figuring out about growing an audience, and why mental health in the Black caregiver community cannot wait.
Sharon Kelly spent 14 years in radio before the cost pushed her toward podcasting. Now the Chattanooga-based registered nurse runs an assisted living facility, an in-home personal care operation, and an adult day program, and uses her podcast to reach the caregivers nobody is talking to. At the Podcast Summit in Atlanta, she sits down with Peuge to talk about what it actually takes to be consistent as a solo podcaster, why community and accountability matter more than equipment, and why self-worth has to come before caregiving for anyone in service to others.
